With the wedding season coming up, the LBD (Little Black Dress) will be getting quite a workout! Whether you wear it with sexy stilettos and pearls or with a sassy leather jacket, tights and biker boots, this iconic piece is truly versatile.

The black dress signified a sign of wealth and status as far back as the16th century (since a true black dye was expensive and difficult to get.) But it is Coco Chanel who popularized it in the 1920's and Audrey Hepburn, wearing the stunning LBD by Givenchy, in Breakfast at Tiffany's who firmly established its place in history.

If there ever was a garment you wanted to invest in, it should be the LBD. Every woman should have one. And if you are unsure about what style suits you, you can follow these tips for your body. type-

The Pear Shape- Since you have a narrower top, look for a dress that will show off those shoulders, like a halter or strapless.

The Petite Lady- The best LBD for you is the sheath dress that ends just above or at the knee.

The Curvy Woman- A V-neck dress will draw the eye down and narrow the waist.

The Plus Size Girl- The wrap dress is perfect to hug those curves and slim down the areas like your shoulders and waist, while remaining loose around your lower body. Draw attention to the upper body with a pretty neckline.

The Hourglass Shape- When your bust and hips are about the same size and you have that tiny waist in the middle, wear body conscious dresses with a structured top, and ones that show off the waist.

The Boyish Figure- You should wear dresses that add curves with texture and shape, like peplums or empire waists.

As Tim Gunn says, it is all about proportion. A cinched waist is often times a woman's best friend. Show off your silhouette rather than "volumize" it with unnecessary flounces! And above all (pun intended) never let your dress fall below the lowest point on your kneecap.

So, pull out that LBD and show off your gorgeous self as the weather gets warmer. Who knows, maybe one of you will strike a pose as legendary as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
